Prof. Ian Shapiro

In 2003 Shapiro has published The Moral Foundations of Politics.

In 2021 this book has been translated to Azerbaijani and published by Kitabistan, and İan Shapiro received the Honorary Citizen of Kitabistan award for his contributions to world political science and to the process of enlightening of Azerbaijani readers.


Born in Johannesburg, South Africa on September 29, 1956, Ian Shapiro is a Sterling Professor of Political Science at Yale University.

At the age of 16, he left for the United Kingdom and chose to remain in Britain to read Philosophy and Politics at the University of Bristol, receiving his B.Sc. in 1978.

Then he left for the United States and enrolled in Yale University's Ph.D. program in Political Science, where he obtained an M.Phil. in 1980 and a Ph.D. in 1983.

Shapiro served as the Henry R. Luce Director of the MacMillan Center at Yale University from 2004 to 2019.
