Finland: The Country of White Lilies Grigory Petrov (Kitabıstan) The book "Finland: The Country of White Lilies", written by Grigory Petrov, provides us a basis for questioning our country, ourselves and our way of life. The genius Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk also recommended his followers to definitely read this book. In this book is described how the whole nation of Finland - from townsmen to peasantries, from soldiers to ministers, from clergymen to teachers - came together and flourished "The country of swamp" (Suomi). This enlightenment movement started with the visits of Johan Vilhelm Snellman and his friends, who travelled across the country- from the countryside to each regions- and called people to join this enlightenment process. Modern Finland is a result of that enlightenment movement which was began about 100 years ago.
