The Grey Wolf

The "Grey Wolf" is the first biographical book of M.K.Ataturk. The book was written by British officer and writer Harold Armstrong, when Ataturk was alive, and published in England. Armstrong was captured in the Turkish War of Independence and was able to escape after staying in a captive camp for a while in Turkey.
Even though the book was banned because was of not idolizing M.K.Ataturk, and emphasizing all his human nature, once around the dinner table with his friends Ataturk read the original version of the book and ordered for its translation into the Turkish language. When he read parts from the book about his drinking and nightlife during the days of his officer times Ataturk said: “He did not write the fullest of my entertainment, and I will complete the rest. Translate it and let the country read the book.”
In addition, in the book, it is mentioned how Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is a persistent and uncompromising commander and also a teacher. As the author himself said: “He was a leader who carried a blackboard and chalk like a weapon.”
